Pallette Perpectives

Hi all!

Allow me to introduce myself: I’m Lana Day, born and raised in Britain to Jamaican parents, and I migrated to the USA in the late 1980s. I made the decision to leave my 9-5 job and pursue a career in the art world—an aspiration I began later in life as a self-taught artist, despite my parents’ disapproval of my career choice. They believed I would be better off pursuing a more practical path that offered a stable income. After raising my children, I finally had the freedom to chase my dream, and with the support of my family, I have been able to pursue this passion for the last 7 years. It was truly the best decision I could have made.

In a world where creativity knows no bounds, the realm of fine art stands as a testament to human imagination, expression, and ingenuity. Fine artists, with their ability to capture emotions, stories, and ideas through various mediums, enrich our lives with their unique perspectives and creations. Let’s delve into the captivating world of fine art and explore what it truly means to be a fine artist.

Fine art transcends mere aesthetics; it speaks to the depths of the human soul. It encompasses a wide array of mediums, including painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, photography, and more. What distinguishes fine art from other forms of visual expression is the artist’s intent to evoke emotion, provoke thought, or convey a message. At the heart of fine art lies a profound connection between the artist and the audience. Each piece serves asa portal through which viewers can experience the artist’s perspective, their interpretation of the world around them, and their innermost thoughts and feelings. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape painting, a thought-provoking sculpture, or an abstractexpressionist masterpiece, fine art has the power to evoke a myriad of emotions and inspire contemplation. In the upcoming blogs, I’d like to explore various facets of fine art, including the creative process, its impact, challenges, and growth.
